QUESTION & ANSWERS
By: Pearl Prevoir
Question:
If we need to replace the pole light fixture, what
style and size of fixture has been approved by
the Board?
Answer:
Light fixture should be 11”L x 11”w x 18”H
See Sample below, which can be found on
Amazon, under Sea Gull Lighting 72065-12.

Question:
What does the Women ’ s Club do with the
unsold Trash & Treasure Items?
Answer :
In the past, the Women ’ s Club donated all unsold
items to the Vietnam Vets, but, sadly, they no
longer accept donations. One of our members
recommended calling TEEN CHALLENGE , —
who are known to come to your location and pack
up and take all the donated items…Not this year,
they refused our items! With the help and
innovation of a few of the club’ s members, most
of the unsold items were happily received by
several different local organizations, such
as:Habitat for Humanity, Iona ’ s Hope Chest, –
Goodwill and Annett’ s Book Nook, in Bonita
Springs(a small book store that lost everything due
to Hurricane IAN). We thank everyone involved
with the Trash & Treasure Sale.

The Myerlee Women and Men’s Clubs thank
everyone who came out to support this year's
Trash and Treasures Sale. THANK YOU!

Cherry Tree Myth
By: Pearl Prevoir
The cherry tree myth is the most well-known and
longest enduring legend about GeorgeWashington.
In the original story ,when Washington was six
years old he received a hatchet as a gift and
damaged his father’s cherry tree. When his father
discovered what he had done, he became angry and
confronted him. Young George bravely said,
“Icannot tell a lie…I cut it with my hatchet.”
Washington’s father embraced him and rejoiced that
his son’s honesty was worth more than a thousand
trees.!
Ironically, this iconic story about the value of
honesty was invented by one of Washington's first
biographers, an itinerant minister, and bookseller
named Mason Locke Weems.
The cherry tree myth has endured for more than two
hundred years probably because we like the story,
which has become an important part of America's
cultural heritage.
